Housekeeper – Emergency Department (Basildon Hospital)
Our busy Emergency Department is seeking a flexible, hardworking, and motivated Housekeeper to join our friendly and supportive “ED family.” This is a vital role, contributing to the delivery of a clean, safe, and well-organised environment for both patients and staff.
As a key member of the team, you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the department by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, stock management, and general organisation. Your work will play an essential part in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment within a fast-paced emergency care setting.
We are looking for an individual with a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to high standards. Previous experience in a healthcare or customer-focused environment would be beneficial, but most importantly, you will take pride in your work and be dedicated to supporting patient care.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) and includes weekend and bank holiday working in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job
On a daily basis, you will liaise with the matron/senior nurse on duty and nursing staff to identify and undertake all non-clinical tasks, to establish a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere and environment for patients, visitors and staff.
Your role will be to keep our environment clean, tidy, stocked and facilitate refreshments for our patients to facilitate a clean and safe ward environment.
You will be required to maintain good levels of communication with the Unit team , patients and all other members of the MDT teams and to act in a courteous and appropriate manner with patients and relatives.
