Imaging Assistant

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

The candidate will be required to work in all areas of Imaging including CT, MRI, General Ultrasound and Maternity Ultrasound. The candidate will be responsible for preparing patients for scans and maintaining a safe environment. The candidate will assist and support patient care and when required, the candidate will Chaperone the Sonographers during growth scans and gynecology assessments, the candidate will also work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients have an excellent experience in Imaging.


Care Certificate training is available.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrates positive and effective communication with patients, colleagues, and the wider multidisciplinary team

 

Chaperone Scans


 To ensure a positive patient experience throughout the patient journey


 Demonstrates implementation of trust values

Attend regular teams’ meetings 

To ensure safety and comfort of patients (before, during and after all 
procedures/scans, specifically paying attention to the Oxygen requirements of our patients.


To assist where necessary with Clinical Procedures under the supervision of Registered Nurses.


To monitor, record and report changes in patients’ condition, as directed by Registered Nurses


Acquire knowledge and skills to be able to complete relevant documentation e.g. care given and the recording of observations.


To implement the Trusts infection control policy preventing cross infection

 The post holder must maintain an up to date working knowledge of Trust/local policies and procedures

Undertake Stock rotation and deep cleaning within the department 

To demonstrate a professional approach to teaching junior staff. 

 Good IT skills 


 Raise clinical incident reports as and when necessary


 Report faulty equipment to the nurse/radiographer/sonographer in charge
