Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to work within the Main Outpatients Department at Orsett/Basildon Hospital.

You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the Outpatient Department to provide a seamless service & high quality care to patients, working collaboratively as part of the outpatient team. 

As a Health Care Assistant, it is expected that you will continue to develop your own capabilities and knowledge of nursing tasks in line with the Trusts career pathway.  

You will work day shifts which may include long days to meet the service needs.  It is expected that the post holder will be able to carry out all the duties listed on the job description but they may carry out other similar duties in support of the unit environment which are not listed.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to undertake assigned tasks involving direct care to meet the needs of the patients in support of and supervised by a registered nurse. The HCA will work within the Trust's policies and procedures and uphold the outpatient philosophy.

No duties are to be undertaken by you unless you have received the appropriate training or instruction.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of achievement e.g. towards Duke of Edinburgh award etc

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working both in a team and alone
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a care environment or undertaking voluntary work with people e.g. St John’s Ambulance or work with learning disabilities
  • Previous experience of working in an acute care environment and performing competencies at an advanced level
