An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Assistant to join the dynamic and exciting team at our Learning Disability unit.

Main duties of the job
· To work independently and accountably as part of a team of clinicians offering 24 hours mental health access and information in the service area of the Trust. The service will be 7 days a week, 24 hours a day for 365 days a year working shifts in an in-patient setting.
· To act as a role model to other colleagues within the team.
· Work collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, clinicians and other practitioners within the multi-disciplinary team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To deliver high quality, effective operational service to people with Learning Disability/ ASD/mental health needs, in accordance with the principles and objective of the Trust and its vision as identified in the service. The job requires the post holder to work flexibly and undertake a change in role at short notice.
· To work collaboratively with others within the organisation to provide an exemplary level of care to service users and their carers.

Education
Essential criteria
- High standard of education – GCSE or above
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- To assess and treat own caseload of service users in accordance with Trust clinical pathways
- Understand the need for compassion in working with colleagues, service users and families
- Support families and carers within the boundaries of their role and professional code of conduct
- Undertake physical health checks of services users and act on the findings appropriately
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working with people with Learning Disability/ special needs
