We are seeking an experienced, motivated and dynamic leader to manage our 25-bedded Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong leadership, organizational and operational management skills who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of effective systems and processes that enhance the safety, quality and efficiency of stroke rehabilitation services. You will inspire and support a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement and compassionate care.
Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, you will develop and implement clinical protocols, drive service improvement initiatives, and ensure patients receive evidence-based rehabilitation tailored to their individual needs. You will play a pivotal role in enabling patients to achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their rehabilitation journey while supporting staff development and maintaining high standards of clinical practice.

- Provide professional and operational leadership with continuing responsibility for the 24-hour management of the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Lead, manage and support the ward team, including registered and unregistered nursing staff, ward clerks and other ward-based personnel, undertaking line management responsibilities such as performance management, appraisal, supervision, recruitment and staff development.
- Promote excellence in clinical practice by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and evidence-based care, leading service developments that enhance patient safety, experience and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate the delivery of comprehensive stroke rehabilitation, ensuring care is individualised, goal-orientated and supports patients to achieve their maximum level of independence.
- Ensure effective management of ward resources, including workforce, equipment and delegated budgets, to deliver efficient, high-quality services and achieve organisational objectives.
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment that supports the education, training and professional development of students, the nursing team and the wider multidisciplinary workforce.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative working relationships across professional groups and organisational boundaries to ensure seamless patient care.

Qualifications

- Nurse with current registration on Part 1 of the NMC register or Therapist with current HCPC registration
- Degree in Nursing or BSc in related topic
Experience

- Significant experience as a team lead or shift lead at Band 6 or higher in a ward setting
- Experience of effective management of staff/ teams including management of conflict, performance, competency and sickness

- Previous experience as a Ward Manager
- Experience in Stroke or Neurology
Skills and Knowledge

- Excellent Communication Skills- Written and Verbal
- Ability to prioritize and delegate work appropriately
- Ability to demonstrate innovative and creative thinking, motivate others and drive change

- Understanding of SSNAP (Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme) and its relevance to the clinical area
