Job overview

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint an experienced Midwife for Inpatient Services

Through strong leadership and effective management, the matron will support the ward and departmental senior sisters/senior charge nurses to promote and deliver excellence in nursing and midwifery care maintaining and continually improve clinical standards evidenced by achievement of key quality performance indicators.

Although based on the Broomfiled site there will be a requirement to work as part of the wider Mid and South Essex Maternity team.

 

Main duties of the job

The matron’s key responsibility is to ensure that the patient experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence. This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility, and surveillance. They will be an expert in their field and will role model professionalism and the Trust standards.

The job holder will ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond. He/she will promote best practice in the prevention of infection through ensuring a clean and safe environment

 

The inpatient matron will oversee the delivery of high quality, safe and effective midwifery and nursing care on the labour ward  at Broomfield hospital, focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers and effectively managing risk. The post holder will also support the postnatal ward area working alongside the ward manger to deliver high standards of care and patient experience.

They will support the Director of Midwifery and Head of Midwifery in achieving both national and local targets and will also work alongside the governance team to promote a safe and proactive service than learns from incidents and champions quality improvement.

They will also take part in the manager on call rota.
