Clinical Nurse Specialist – Nutrition | Broomfield Hospital
Broomfield Hospital is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Nutrition to join our supportive and dynamic team. This role is suitable for both newly qualified and experienced CNS's who are passionate about delivering high-quality nutritional care.
We are looking for a motivated, organised, and enthusiastic leader with a strong commitment to patient safety and excellence in care. You will play a key role in leading and developing the nutrition team, promoting advanced nursing practice and education to ensure the delivery of outstanding nutritional care throughout the patient journey.
As a CNS, you will be instrumental in driving service development within a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the Trust, providing both professional and managerial leadership, and ensuring consistently high standards of care.
The role includes leading and supporting educational initiatives, planning and delivering ward-based and directorate teaching programmes, and assessing the training needs of nursing staff in partnership with the Practice Education Facilitator team.

Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities of the Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialist role:
- Practice clinically, within agreed scope of practice according to approved protocols or clinical guidance in contributing to the care of patients requiring or receiving nutrition support via the parenteral and/or enteral route.
- Case load management.
- Provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals.
- Liaise with other hospital and community teams along an agreed pathway to support the delivery of patient and family centred seamless care.
- Contribute to the smooth running and ongoing development of the specialist service.
- Work as an integral member of the Nutrition Support Team and the wider MDT.

Essential criteria
- Degree, Diploma or other nursing qualification permitting registration with the NMC
- Post Registration qualification relevant to the role (or working towards) Evidence of recent CPD ENB 998 or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of teaching Nurses, Patients and Health Care Professionals
- Knowledge and expertise of speciality pathologies and treatments
- Specialist Interest in Nutrition Support
Desirable criteria
