Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Job overview

Our Haemodialysis Unit has a fantastic opportunity to join it's dynamic, supportive and friendly team where your role will involve decision making based on a recognised framework influenced by previous experience to similar situations.

This is a fantastic secondment training opportunity for someone to work in a specialised unit accompanied by a dedicated mentor to help upskill the appointed applicant. 

You will translate assessment into a plan of patient care, modifying your approach to assess similar cases, planning/prioritising care across a shift for a ward, anticipating next stages of care, taking appropriate action to progress care, assisting junior staff to plan care delivery, evaluating and responding to changes in patient needs and amending care plans accordingly.

Main duties of the job

As our Staff Nurse you will access, plan, implement, evaluate, holistic, high quality and individualised care which respects patient personal dignity and beliefs whilst maintaing a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff.

You will maintain and promote effective communication within the care team and with colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors, act as a mentor to students and newly qualified staff including teaching and assessing, upholding the philosophy of evidence based practice ans assist in the management of the ward budget and ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.

Your will be expected to maintain a professional profile and develop skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Trust Policies and Procedures.

  • Registered Nurse
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing
  • Renal Course or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to evidence experience/knowledge in an acute care setting
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of individualised care
  • Able to explain caring for patients with Long term condition
  • Demonstrable previous Staff Nurse experience
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of acute healthcare
  • Able to explain care of patients on Hemodialysis

Skills

  • Good written and verbal communication skills including computer literary
