We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Theatre Practitioner to take the next step in their career as a Senior Theatre Practitioner in our Main Theatres team at Colchester Hospital
In this post you will be the lead for our Emergency Surgery CEPOD theatre, however you may be required to provide cover for our other theatres of General/Laparoscopic, Vascular, Urology and Robotics.
For this role you will need to be proficient in scrubbing for a variety of surgical specialities including general/laparoscopic, urology and gynaecology. It is desirable for you to have vascular scrubbing experience.
You will need to effectively manage and develop a nursing team to provide professional and clinical leadership in the delivery of high quality, safe, cost effective care of patients across our department.
You will be fully supported in this post by the Clinical Lead to aid in your smooth transition into the role and for your professional development.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to use their broad knowledge of surgical procedures and associated instrumentation to provide patient centred care.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Part 1
- Evidence of Post registration qualification/specialist development.
- ODP NVQ Level 3, DipHe with D32/33 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Diploma or working toward Health Care Management qualification.
- ENB 183 or Equivalent
- Undertaken or willing to undertake recognised management course.
- Specialist Practice Module level 2 or equivalent/similar
Experience
Essential criteria
- Excellent clinical skills within specialty
- Proven experience Senior Theatre Practitioner level with knowledge of list suite management.
- Team Development
- Teaching experience
Desirable criteria
- Adequate years Senior Theatre Practitioner level with evidence of leadership and management.
- Evidence of managing change
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Problem solving approach.
- Day to day management responsibilities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of resource management within team
- Demonstrate excellent clinical skills within the peri-operative setting
