Job overview

Are you passionate about wound care and have a specialist interest in pressure ulcers and complex wound management including TNP therapy?

If so this may be the opportunity you are looking for.

We are looking to recruit a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Tissue Viability to cover maternity leave for one year to work within our team to provide best practice and education and support in all elements of wound care.

We welcome applications from experienced nurses who can evidence effective knowledge understanding and application of best practice in relation to wound care as well as those with previous experience in a tissue viability role.

A large part of this job role will be the review, oversight, confirmation and classification of pressure ulcers therefore you must have an extensive understanding of pressure ulcers both in prevention and management.

The community tissue viability team also plays a large role in education and therefore the skills to both teach and mentor are essential for this role with given support.

We would also look at a developmental Band 5 role to Band 6.

Main duties of the job

This role will involve being part of the NEECS Tissue Viability Team. The main purpose of the role is to provide specialist education, support and complex wound management to patients in North East Essex Community.

The role involves supporting both patients and healthcare professionals in patients own home, clinic settings as well as GP surgeries and Nursing homes to ensure that all those patients who would benefit from a specialist review are able to have their wound assessed to provide best practice wound care for our patients.

This role involves a high level of input to education of healthcare professionals therefore you must be willing to educate and teach both through facilitating classroom sessions, teams sessions as well as face to face supervision and support to staff to ensure they have the appropriate level of knowledge to provide patients with wound care which is both holistic, in line with best practice and effective.

Working for our organisation

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.
