Infection Prevention Specialist

NHS AfC: Band 6

Job overview

As a valued member of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team, you will provide expert advice, guidance and support to clinical and non-clinical staff on all aspects of infection prevention, surveillance and control. You will play a key role in promoting a culture of patient safety and supporting the organisation's commitment to reducing healthcare-associated infections.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across a range of services, you will support the implementation of national and local infection prevention initiatives, policies and best practice guidance. You will contribute to surveillance programmes, ensuring the accurate collection, analysis and reporting of infection-related data to support quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a proactive and visible presence within clinical services, acting as an IPC role model and providing support, challenge and education to staff at all levels. You will work alongside care teams to identify risks, promote best practice, and support continuous improvement in infection prevention standards across the organisation.

As an effective communicator, you will build strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams, helping to embed evidence-based infection prevention practices and deliver the highest standards of patient care.
