Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate individual to join our Benign Urology CNS team at Southend Hospital.
In this rewarding role, you will help promote and develop the highest standards of care for patients with urological conditions. Working closely with the Urology team and wider multidisciplinary colleagues, you will play a key part in ensuring patients experience a safe, effective, and well‑coordinated pathway of care.
You will provide specialist support within the urology outpatient department and maintain strong communication with primary care services to ensure seamless, patient‑centred care across all settings.

Main duties of the job
Your role is to ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility, working as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients.
You will contribute as a team leader in the absence of the outpatient Manager/Deputy outpatient Manager, participating in all relevant aspects of the Governance process acting as a positive role model at all times.
Your role will involve making a thorough assessment of the patient’s needs and document these in accordance with Trust policies, formulating a plan of care based on the identified needs of the patient, taking into account current evidence based research findings and ensuring that all the care planned is delivered to the patient at the highest possible standard.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC registered Nurse
- Ability to work within NMC Code of Conduct and maintain required revalidation standards.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification (ENB 998 or equivalent)
- Interest in or willingness to develop urology skills
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of caring for patient with Urological conditions.
- Ability to recognise deteriorating patients, escalate appropriately
- Ability to prioritise workload independently in a busy outpatient department.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrable urology experience.
- Experience of working autonomously & part of a team
- Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within an outpatient environment.
