Job overview

Woodmancote Ward is a 32 bedded acute stroke unit at CGH specialising in the care of patients who have suffered a stroke once they are stable enough to step down from the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) at GRH.

We offer exciting training opportunities and have a dedicated practice development team to support and develop your career.

We offer rotation across the 2 stroke units to increase you skills, knowledge and confidence in this speciality.

We can also arrange a rotation with other specialities within the medical division.

  • Hold current NMC PIN registration and adhere to the NMC Codes of Conduct at all times.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In line with the Trust Vision to provide the “Best Care for Everyone…”

  • To identify care needs of patients, planning and implementing nursing interventions and evaluating outcomes of care given
  • To ensure high standards of evidence based nursing care are delivered consistently
  • To administer drugs and check preparations in accordance with Company policy and NMC guidelines.
  • To communicate information accurately on patient care to the patient, families, internal and external professionals, whilst maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the principles of Information Governance
  • To report and record incident and accidents in accordance with policy and procedures
  • To assist in the induction, development and supervision of, new and junior staff members, as required.
