Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Assistant who is motivated and enthusiastic about providing high quality care to join our friendly Cardiology Ward team Gloucester Royal Hospital NHS Trust.
Cardiology ward is a busy, unpredictable ward requiring high quality/compassionate nursing care. The successful candidate will be working in a progressively changing environment who will promote the Trust values and be committed to high standards of service delivery. As part of the cardiology team, you will be under the supervision of the qualified nursing team to assist with high quality services.
Cardiology is a 25 bedded unit consisting of 8 Coronary care beds and 17 step down ward beds. Receiving patients from Emergency department and Acute Medical ward as well as other Tertiary centres post operation. Also assisting with transferring patients to and from other departments, such as the Cath Lab for cardiac procedures. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your cardiac knowledge.
Main duties of the job
Shift patterns include days and night duties. You will be expected to undertake key roles which will assist in smooth running of the department.
Ideally the candidate will have experience in care, and they will work under the direct supervision of Registered nurses. This role requires excellent communication skills/listening skills and a good team player with a positive attitude and approach.
Additional duties will be to have IT skills for inputting data on our electric patient record system

Working in Cardiology ward under the supervision of registered staff.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the defined clinical area
- To assist in meeting service delivery targets.
- As well as having excellent organizational and people skills, requires staff to be flexible to meet our service delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with the multi disciplinary team and respect equality and diversity of each and every person.
- Uphold dignity and privacy of patients at all times
- Undertake mandatory training and essential skills training as identified for the role.
- Contribute to the development of the clinical area through identifying new ideas to improve patient care/experience.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
Desirable criteria
- Previous health care experience in an acute setting
