We are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity to apply for a Band 4 Assistant Mental Health Practitioner post within our North Wales child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) eating Disorder treatment programme. The programme consists of a centralised multidisciplinary assessment clinic (SPEED), with intervention provided within locality CAMHS services situated in Wrexham and Flintshire (East Area), Conwy & Denbighshire (Central Area), and Gwynedd and Ynys Mon (West Area).  

We are looking for a committed and motivated team player who can demonstrate the skills, experience, and enthusiasm to support children and young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. We are especially interested in hearing from individuals with experience or interest in working with young people who are at risk of or experiencing and eating disorder. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills and a flexible and adaptable approach to enable engagement with young people and families with a range of needs, in a variety of settings. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Our assistant mental health practitioners will be joining a supportive multidisciplinary host team in either East, central, or west areas and will have the opportunity to work with a range of disciplines and therapeutic approaches Alongside your team and other CAMHS professionals, you will offer community, clinic, and home based interventions in addition to providing advice and direct support to young people admitted to other health settings including paediatric wards.

This post provides an exciting opportunity to undertake a role that is varied and dynamic to meet the changing needs of service users. If successful in your application for this post, you will receive regular clinical supervision and a personal development plan to support your clinical development within the speciality. In CAMHS, clinicians can access skills based training such as working with systems and families, risk assessment, and goal setting, in addition to evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and specific Eating disorder training such as delivery of the Maudsley Model intervention.
