Please see below for detailed job description of the role
Main duties of the job
We have exciting opportunities for motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 nurses to join the R&D Trust Wide and Cancer Research teams and the Clinical Research Facility. We have a full time, 12 month, one year fixed term contract and a 22.5 hours permanent position available. No research experience is required as full training will be given, but a keen interest in research must be demonstrated.
The post holder will support the delivery of high quality clinical research within several clinical specialities, working under the supervision of senior research staff and Principal Investigators. The role focuses on the practical coordination and day to day running of research studies, ensuring that research activity is conducted safely, ethically, and in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), research governance, and regulatory requirements.
The post holder will contribute to participant identification, recruitment and follow up, data collection and entry, and the maintenance of accurate study documentation. They will work closely with patients, clinical teams, academic partners, and external organisations, providing information and support to research participants and ensuring a positive participant experience.
The role requires effective communication, organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team. The post holder will follow established protocols and standard operating procedures, escalating issues appropriately and contributing to the smooth delivery of research activity within the department.
This is an excellent opportunity for Band 5 nurses who want to broaden their experience, grow confidence in research delivery, and help shape the future of NHS care through clinical innovation.
