Job overview

We are looking for a full time time Junior Sister/Junior Charge Nurse  or Deputy Team Leader (ODP) to join our friendly  team.  The Podiatric Surgery Department is based at our Belmont site on the outskirts of the city, and delivers both an outpatient and theatre service.

As a Junior Sister/Junior Charge Nurse or deputy Team Leader within the department you must have excellent communication skills, organisational skills and be able to lead a team. You will be expected to work in all areas of the department. 

We are looking for a highly motivated leader to work within our team whilst ensuring high standards of care, demonstrating Wye Valley NHS Trusts values and professionalism.

Main duties of the job

  • To demonstrate effectiveness as a role model and clinical supervisor.
  • To demonstrate specialists knowledge within sphere of practice and act as a resource for the Trust.
  • To demonstrate expertise within sphere of practice.
    To ensure complaints within the sphere of responsibility are managed in a timely manner. In the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse report actions taken to minimise risks.
  • To ensure clinical incidents / near misses within the sphere of responsibility are managed in a timely manner. In the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse report actions taken to minimise risks.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RGN registered with NMC or registered ODP with HCPC
  • Teaching qualification or course relevant to specialty or working towards
  • Evidence of post qualification education and training
  • A1 award or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Diploma/Degree or equivalent

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a wide range of people
  • Leadership ability
  • Time management of self and others
  • Demonstrate an ability to problem solve complex situations
