Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Bladder & Bowel team.  The candidate should have an interest in uro-gynaecology, urology, gastroenterology and neurological conditions.

You will be given the opportunity to develop your clinical skills to an advanced level to progress your career.

You will be working independently and autonomously throughout East & North Herts and managing of your own caseload of complex patients.

Part of the role will include supporting our Community Teams with complex patient care and liaising with GP's and secondary care to progress appropriate treatment management.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist nursing knowledge and expertise to service users, carers, and other healthcare professionals in regard to the identification, assessment, management and treatment of bladder and bowel dysfunction within a community setting in East & north Hertfordshire. 

To provide consultations in clinics, patient’s homes and residential homes.

To plan and participate in the delivery of on-going evidence-based education programmes and information packages to intermediate care professionals and to work closely with intermediate care teams and primary care to provide expertise for complex patients.

Secondary care 

To work autonomously within the multidisciplinary setting across Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust Services and liaise with primary and secondary care

Person specification

Adult Nursing BSc

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience in generalist or specialist nursing role
  • Hold a full, valid, UK driving license
  • Access to a car to use with business insurance
  • To be computer and IT literate
  • Be able to priorities task and respond appropriately to changing requirements
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in bladder and bowel dysfunction, urology or gynaecology and catheter care
  • Function well within a team
  • Be able to work on own initiative
  • Be adept at problem solving
