The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to all patients and visitors within the LMCC Lister Hospital. Taking an active role in improving the patient experience and working towards achieving excellence in patient focused initiatives such as infection control and prevention, patient safety, privacy and dignity.
The post holder will be required to deliver patient education primarily in the form of pre chemotherapy consultations both in a group and individual setting. Working closely with the Patient information lead and the Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist, sessions will be organised to maximise capacity and utilise resources. At every session the nurse will be responsible for ensuring the patient has the correct appointments required and has any medications required to commence treatment.
The nurse will be able to support and advise regarding specific treatments or nursing practices and signpost on where required.
To actively create a learning environment and support education and training of qualified and unqualified staff and to participate in the development of these sessions.
The post holder will need to keep up to date with chemotherapy competencies and mandatory training and be able to work on the ward or Day Units if necessary.
They will also need to have a comprehensive understanding of risk management and governance issues.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
