Job overview

An  exciting opportunity  has arisen  to join a dynamic specialist stoma care nursing team, we are keen to recruit an enthusiastic, accomplished team player to this stoma care support nurse role .

We are looking for a highly motivated  qualified nurse who can demonstrate current experience in the field of colorectal surgical procedures and stoma care .

The successful candidate will be motivated , proactive excellent communicator who works well within an experienced team.

The post holder is responsible for supporting patients and their families through the  Stoma care pathway.

Stoma care covers hospital and community care . This will include working with new born babies and their patents at home, visiting patients in their own homes and providing stoma care in community nursing care homes.

Main duties of the job

  • Assessment, planning , implementing and evaluating care as a practitioner with specialist skills.
  • Provide advice with clinical expertise to all staff.
  • Provide specialist  clinical advice to patients and carers.
  • Take responsibility for the management of allocated cases.
  • Improve and maintain standards of care within the speciality.

 The successful candidate will be fully supported to  develop in the specialist nurse role  and  qualification of specialist stoma care courses  must be achieved to support the care of our patients.

  • Provide a high level of communication by liaising with  all appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicating very sensitive condition related information to patients and relatives.
  • Ensuring the provision of appropriate  verbal and written patient information relating to stoma care.
