An Exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time nurse to join our team at Danesbury Neurological Centre. We are a 24 bedded rehabilitation unit who provide rehab care for patients who have suffered strokes and neurological conditions.  We pride ourselves in being adaptable to change in order to meet patients needs.  If you are motivated, compassionate and have excellent communication skills, we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a team of nurses who work as part of the multidisciplinary team that includes, Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Assistants and Social Workers.  We offer a supportive and friendly working environment and there are opportunities to develop your clinical leadership skills whilst under the guidance of a well-established team and with the support of the Training and Development Department.

You will be required to work 11.5 hour shifts on a rotating shift pattern of days and nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Please be aware that if you are applying from overseas, we expect overseas candidates to have full registration with the NMC (including and OSCE pass), if you do not have full NMC registration, unfortunately your application will not be successful. Whilst we can sponsor fully registered candidates who live outside of the UK, we are unable to pay relocation costs.

In addition to the basic salary, this post attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary  (pro rata where applicable)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Job description

  • To work as a member of the nursing team to support and care for patients with a variety of neurological rehabilitation needs to enable them to be safely discharged to their discharge destination.
  • To provide and deliver a package of high quality evidence based nursing care to patients with complex needs through assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised programmes of care and to provide advice, guidance and information to health and social care professional, as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • RGN/RN/Diploma /Degree in nursing
  • NMC approved mentorship course or relevant post graduate course (Desirable)

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience, with experience in a related setting
  • Supervision of nursing assistants and students
  • Knowledge of current issues in the profession and nursing practice
Desirable criteria
  • Intermediate care/elderly care/rehabilitation experience
  • Experience of teaching in a ward setting
  • Awareness of relevant NICE Guidance and Quality Standards

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Able to organise self and others.
  • Work as part of a team
  • Able to delegate
  • Ability to teach both peers and patients.
Desirable criteria
  • Willingness to undertake training and further competencies, eg Phlebotomy, cannulation, male catheterisation
