Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurse to join our caring and progressive Kent School Health service.

Our school nursing teams provide support to families with children aged five to 19. This is a varied and interesting role, working closely with local schools to provide the best possible start in life for Kent children.

You will work as part of a team to keep children safe and well by using your clinical judgment to support evidence-based care planning and make sure that children and families who use our services have a good experience.

Main duties of the job

What will the role involve?

  • Supporting in the supervision/ line management and development of colleagues
  • Undertaking a range of competent clinical and non-clinical interventions to support the outcomes of the service
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings
  • Build relationships with colleagues to enhance the team working environment.

We have full and part time opportunities available and are willing to consider flexible working hours to support both you and the service. This role is a community- based role so the majority of your duties will be carried out between your home and a community setting for example a school or trust site.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of Level 6 degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience within your area of practice
  • Evidence of NMC or HCPC registration

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Evidence of working collaboratively with other teams
  • Demonstrate the ability to use a range of IT systems and databases
  • Demonstrate an awareness of relevant National Frameworks and NICE guidance
  • Provide evidence that shows you work well under pressure
  • Demonstrate an ability to organise work
