An exciting full-time Band 7 HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) job opportunity has arisen in HIV Speciality within Sexual Health services at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone looking for a full-time role combining clinical and community care. You'll be supported by an experienced team of HIV specialist doctors, Pharmacists and CNS’s within the speciality and expected to work autonomously. You will have advanced clinical skills in assessing the needs of PLWHIV and will be working towards completion of the Advanced Physical assessment course
Main duties of the job
Ensure care for complex patients is specifically tailored and co-ordinated to individual needs through case management.
To practice autonomously in the management of own caseload of clients in the community and clinic, In line with policies in MTW NHS Trust, BHIVA, Local and the NMC Professional Code of Practice.
Assess and interpret complex clinical information and data in partnership with the HIV Specialist Team to make appropriate diagnoses, developing and implementing a plan of healthcare management including prescribing medications or refer for medical review if required.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the patient's care plan on an ongoing basis and initiate any further action required.
Recognise and act on situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individual.
To provide ongoing follow-up care and support such as home visits, telephone support, nurse -led clinics, phlebotomy in the community/patient's homes, including lone working.
Utilise own expertise and clinical skills to manage a case load of patients including those with highly complex treatment and psycho-social needs, referred by the medical consultant or team doctors for ongoing follow-up care in the community
Provide pathways for HIV testing to high-risk patients e.g. partners of people with recently diagnosed HIV, historical untested partners/children.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Independent Nurse Prescriber Or working towards
- Sexual Health Qualification including: STIF Core and Plus, HIV Masterclass
- ENB 934 or sexual health diploma or degree
- Evidence of professional updating within 12 months
- Physical examination module or working towards
- Member of NHIVNA/BHIVA
Desirable criteria
- Management or supervision qualification or program of study
- Evidence of continuing education at Master’s level
- Motivational interviewing or FRSH qualification
- Counselling qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working in an integrated sexual health service with experience in HIV care
- Community Nursing experience
- Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner and clinical decision making, managing a caseload of complex patients
- Teaching/training mentoring experience
- Experience on the principals of partner notification for STIs including HIV
- Skilled and experience in working in venepuncture and cytology and point of care testing
- Experience of working with the wider health partners in managing patient care

- Experience in community health or part of a Primary care team
- Evidence of developing clinical pathways and policy
