Job overview
We are currently seeking a highly nurse to join our nurse led unit as a Chemotherapy Development Nurse at Viking Day Unit, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.
If you are looking to work in a fast paced, innovative, nurse-led environment, then this is a fantastic opportunity for you.
The East Kent Chemotherapy Units offer in-house training with our mix of Nurse Educators, mentors and on-line training via google classrooms, then a fully funded, accredited university course when you are ready. Once you have completed this training, you have the opportunity to progress into a chemotherapy sister role (band 6), and be a part of our senior team, helping guide our newer nurses.
Main duties of the job
The posts offer:
- The opportunity to develop and maintain a professional portfolio
- The opportunity to help lead the nursing service across the SACT unit to ensure a unified approach to care and consistent standards of care
- The opportunity to work in the much specialised area of cancer services
- The ability to manage empathetically emotional issues relating to stages in the patient’s journey
- The opportunity to be part of a team that works collaboratively with all care groups to develop a service for the care and management of patients with cancer.
- To gain the confidence to actively support Divisional initiatives and issues. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in which they are competent, without direct supervision, and may be required to supervise and support the training of both qualified and unqualified members of staff. These are just some of the reasons that make this a ‘great place to work’.
Working for our organisation
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five
hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.
