Community Support Worker

Band 3

KMPT is creating an environment for equal opportunities for all, where we can ALL be ourselves.

It’s an exciting time to join us: KMPT has been rated Outstanding for Caring and Good overall in our most recent CQC inspection in January 2019!

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our experienced team working full time 37.5 hours per week in the Thanet Community Mental Health Service for Older Adults.

We actively encourage applications from people with experience of working within a community mental health care setting. We are looking for individuals who have experience of working within mental health and are able to engage and work with people in a practical way that enables recovery in both people with dementia and functional mental health difficulties.

The successful post holder will receive supervision from within the team monthly.

Ideally we would like applicants to have:

* NVQ at Level 2 in health and social care or equivalent relevant training
* Good written and verbal communication
* Good IT skills
* Willing to complete training on the Trust`s electronic clinical records system (RIO)
* Ability to work on your own and willing to develop skills and abilities
* Be outgoing and enthusiastic
* Work well as part of a team
* Their own lived experience

The post holder will work with clients, in their own homes, and will be expected to co-facilitate some practical groups and activities if required, both within the service and in the local community. The post holder will be expected to work 9-5 Monday to Friday.

In return for your commitment, we offer excellent opportunities for personal development through supervision and appraisal.

This post is subject to a six month probationary period for candidates external to the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

Employment in this post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

To deliver an effective service it is essential that you are able to travel between bases in a timely manner.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
