Job overview

As part of this, we are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Advanced Nurse Prescriber with experience in working with children and young people with ADHD. The successful candidate will work alongside paediatricians and therapists to help lead our neurodevelopmental pathway.

You will be responsible for managing staff within this pathway, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of care across the multidisciplinary team. The full ADHD caseload will be monitored, and the role will involve reviewing medication alongside monitoring symptoms to ensure the correct prescription, working closely with paediatricians.

Children and their families will be supported through our extensive parent education sessions, parent support groups, and individual packages of care delivered by the team.

You will use your prescribing skills on a daily basis and hold a key role in ensuring transformational change for this cohort of children and young people. In return, we will support you to develop your clinical and leadership skills. This position sits within a wider team that includes nursing, and therefore exceptional team working skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:

  1. Clinical Leadership & Prescribing:

    • Lead the ADHD neurodevelopmental pathway alongside paediatricians and therapists.
    • Use advanced nurse prescribing skills daily to review and manage ADHD medication.
    • Monitor symptoms and adjust prescriptions to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.
  2. Staff Management:

    • Manage and support staff within the neurodevelopmental pathway.
    • Ensure effective coordination and delivery of care across the multidisciplinary team.
  3. Patient & Family Support:

    • Support children and families through education sessions, support groups, and tailored care packages.
    • Contribute to transformational change in the care and outcomes for children and young people with ADHD.
  4. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with a wider team including nurses, paediatricians, and therapists.
    • Demonstrate exceptional teamwork and communication skills.
  5. Service Development:

    • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the ADHD service.
    • Engage in leadership development and continuous professional growth.
