Employer heading
Extended Duties Dental Nurse
NHS AfC: Band 5
Job overview
KCHT Dental Services are a high profile, dynamic provider of NHS dental services across East Kent and London. Our philosophy is to keep the patient at the heart of everything we do.
Every person that works for our Service, regardless of their role, comes into contact with our patients and visitors and so is expected to uphold our values, lead and collaborate through partnership working and strive for excellence at all times.
We look for people who are willing to go the extra mile, not because they are asked to, but because they are committed to being part of a healthcare team that delivers an excellent caring service to our patients.
We are currently looking to recruit Extended Duties Nurses to support the delivery of the National Supervised Tooth Brushing programme Newham as well as supporting Havering, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Hackney and if required.
The role will require a certain amount of travelling to sites to deliver face-to-face sessions as well as delivering sessions virtually. There may be opportunity to support other contracts in the delivery of oral health promotion which includes the fluoride varnish programme in schools.
Main duties of the job
You will act as an ambassador for the Service, promoting the highest standards of excellence in working practices. You will support the Oral Heath Team to ensure outreach programmes are delivered to the highest standard and play an active role in the stakeholder engagement programmes to promote uptake of the schemes. You will employ a cohesive team approach, developing and strengthening partnerships working both internally and externally.
The post holder will need to be able to work in a very busy environment whilst remaining calm and be able to deliver the outreach programmes effectively through challenging situations, so the ability to work independently, proactively and under pressure is important. A positive attitude, excellent clinical skills and a commitment to best practice in clinical care and continued professional development is essential. You will be required to travel around London to reach the communities we serve.
Please note, this vacancy does not meet the criteria for skilled worker sponsorship and therefore, we are unable to accept applications from candidates that cannot provide documentary evidence of right to work in the United Kingdom.
Working for our organisation
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is currently undertaking a significant programme of transformation to align our community services to the new Neighbourhood Model of care delivery, there will be a period of consultation which may result in changes affecting some services, teams or roles. Depending on the area you are applying to work in, this could include potential changes to your role, work base, reporting arrangements, or terms and conditions of employment. Any changes would be subject to consultation and managed sensitively and in line with relevant employment processes. Please do contact the recruiting manager if you have any concerns about this so they can answer any questions you might have.
Rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC, we deliver high-quality care that improves the health of our communities. We are looking for people who share our values: Compassionate, Aspirational, Responsive and Excellent.
We are proud to be an inclusive, welcoming organisation and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We use protected characteristic information for monitoring only and it is not seen by recruiting managers, except where applicants choose to be considered under our disability guaranteed interview scheme.
We know life outside work matters. As a flexible working-friendly organisation, we welcome conversations about arrangements that help you thrive while supporting excellent care for our patients.
