The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the Day Surgery Unit. Working as part of the Multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide compassionate, safe, and effective care to patients before and after surgical procedures. 

Important Notice on Visa Sponsorship Eligibility

Please note that whilst the trust does offer sponsorship this role is unfortunately not eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Health and Care Worker visa route. This is due to the position not meeting the minimum salary threshold of £25,000 per annum and/or the required skill level set by UK Visas and Immigration.

Main duties of the job

  • Welcome, prepare & support patients on admission, during their stay &   discharge from the Unit.
  • Assit patients with personal care needs, mobility & nutrition, while maintaining dignity and respect. 
  • Carry our routine clinical observation's and accurately record/report findings to registered staff.
  • Adhere to infection control - cleaning of areas & equipment to ensure a clean safe, and organised environment. 
  • Provide reassurance and clear communication/documentation to patients and their families. 
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Participate in  training, supervision and appraisal to support ongoing development.

  • Functional skills minimum Level 2 Math’s and English or GCSE equivalent or working towards.
  • Completed the National Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards or prepared to work towards obtaining an Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working with the multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of caring for patients.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in a radiology setting.
  • Experience of support and supervision of junior staff
  • Experience of supporting Quality Improvement /audits / research and development activities
