The post holder will provide clinical support in carrying out assigned tasks and delivery of care to patients within the radiology department during all examinations. They will be responsible for providing personalised care for patients and assisting in interventional procedures, as required following appropriate training and within their scope of competence. They will also provide training, direction, and supervision for junior staff.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside healthcare professionals in all modalities of the radiology department i.e., Breast, CT, MR, Ultrasound, fluoroscopy and General X-ray.
To provide clinical support and delivery of care to patients attending for all radiology examinations.
Participate in giving compassionate high-quality personal care to patients.
Assist in preparing patients notes, relevant charts/documentation and making sure all relevant information is scanned into CRIS.
To assist with and provide a chaperone during invasive or intimate examinations.
Maintain cleanliness in the work environment in line with Trust Health and Safety policies.
The hours of work will be in accordance with service needs over a 24/7 period.
Undertake a range of clinical competencies as directed by the Registered Healthcare Professional including the undertaking of the patient’s vital signs, including: -
Temperature
Blood Pressure
Pulse
Respiration
Oxygen Saturation
Blood glucose monitoring
Prepare and maintain environments for clinical procedures.
Undertake a range of clinical competencies e.g., Venipuncture and cannulation.
To assist consultant radiologists, ultra-sonographers and radiographers in interventional procedures including biopsies, aspirations and drainages.
