Band 8a

At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care.  We currently provide high quality services and treat over 600,000 people across East Lancashire and the surrounding area. We employ over 9,500 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.

Job overview

At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust we strive to provide a first class Safe, Personal and Effective service to all our patients.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)  from a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional background, to join our Acute Medical team. Our multidisciplinary team comprises of Acute Medicine Consultants, Middle grade and Junior Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nursing staff, Extended Scope Physiotherapist and Occupational therapists along with dedicated Practice Education Facilitators.

The role entails working across the Acute Medical Division which includes our acute medical units, Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit/Same Day Emergency Care Unit and our fast flow medical unit.

Interested applicants must be a qualified ACP and possess a MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.  The ability to work as an independent Non-Medical Prescriber is essential therefore applicants must also possess a NMP qualification.

If you are ready for a new challenge, with a passion for delivering high quality, safe, personal and effective care join us at ELHT.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be expected to autonomously assess, investigate, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated health care problems.

The ACP will have experience working within the field of acute medicine, with the ability to demonstrate advanced clinical and diagnostic skills.

You will be required to practice in a professional and self-directed manner with confidence and expertise. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your knowledge and skills via the Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice and Speciality Specific Competencies for acute medicine.

As a clinical expert in acute medicine, the ACP will be a resource to less experienced staff, enhancing the nursing teams’ skill and knowledge whilst working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

You will be expected to provide strong leadership to both the nursing, medical and surgical teams across all of our departments, ensuring  episodes of patient care are managed thoroughly.

We are continuously looking at ways in which we can improve our services therefore you will be required to partake in audit, research and quality improvement initiatives within the Medical Division.
