Job overview

An enthusiastic, positive and motivated Nurse or Operating Department practitioner is invited to apply for a band 6 post within the surgical theatres. The clinical element of this role is based on surgical scrub skills and the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and skills displaying a high level of competence and flexibility within the role.

This is an ideal opportunity for an established Band 6 or Band 5 to enhance their leadership and management skills or for a substantive Band 6 to embrace the opportunity of working in a different clinical specialty / environment.  This post will be worked between the hours of 8-7 Mon-Fri and may involve some Saturday shifts.

We are looking for a conscientious, customer and patient focused individual who wants to join and lead our team in delivering excellent standards of clinical care to our patients. You must be dynamic, and have great leadership skills and be able to demonstrate vision to improve the service. 

 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant must be  forward thinking and a professional role model who is able to lead and motivate the staff in the provision of high quality care and capable of fostering and building strong working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.  This post will involve rotation within the surgical theatres.

We consider the Directorate to be an innovative and team orientated environment and the successful applicant will be supported by the band 6 staff, theatres leads,  Clinical Matron, Directorate Manager and the Directorate Support Manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To support and deputise for the Senior Lead Practitioner in their absence. To utilise clinical and managerial skills that will enable high standards of care to be delivered in all areas of the department. By recognising areas for
change, assist in the innovation, updating and implementation of practice within the surgical specialities underpinned by research and proven best practice.
Adhere to the Trust’s policies, procedures and guidelines and take responsibility for the maintenance of standards and quality within area of responsibility.
