Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Gynaecology Cancer Nurse Specialist Team at Royal Bolton Hospital. We are excited to announce a new full‑time Gynaecology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist role designed to enhance the support provided to patients diagnosed with gynaecological cancers throughout their treatment pathway.
This post requires a candidate with substantial post‑registration experience, including time spent working at a senior level within a relevant specialist area. A strong background in gynaecology, cancer care, or cancer nursing is essential.
The successful applicant will be passionate about delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred cancer care and committed to making a meaningful difference to the lives of women diagnosed with gynaecological cancers. They will provide expert support across the entire pathway, undertaking holistic needs assessments and ensuring personalised care planning remains central to the service.
This newly developed role offers an excellent opportunity to influence and improve current practice. The postholder will play a key part in shaping service development, enhancing patient experience, and contributing to the ongoing delivery of safe, compassionate and responsive care for gynaecology cancer patients at Royal Bolton Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The Gynaecology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide high‑quality specialist nursing care for patients with gynaecological cancer, using advanced clinical skills to assess, plan and deliver personalised care. You will independently manage your own caseload, acting as a key worker to support patients throughout their diagnostic, treatment and follow‑up pathways.
The role includes delivering expert disease‑specific advice, holistic needs assessments and level 2 psychological support, as well as ensuring timely referral to other services. You will act as a senior clinical resource for staff across the Trust, contributing to education, supervision and service development.
As a core member of the MDT, you will participate in meetings, support effective communication across primary, secondary and tertiary care settings, and help shape clinical guidelines, innovation, research and audit activity to enhance the Gynaecology Cancer Service.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
