An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified registered Midwife to join our Reproductive Health and Children’s research team, facilitating a range of studies in Maternity and Neonatology- all which contribute to improved outcomes and experience of women’s and children’s health.You will have a key working relationship with the Team Leader, other team members and Clinicians in developing a portfolio of studies. 

There will be opportunities to work on a variety of studies whilst helping to promote a research active culture within Reproductive Health and children’s Specialties at ELHT.

We are looking for someone who likes a challenge and can work autonomously when appropriate whilst contributing to the wider team. You should be a good communicator and be confident interfacing with patients & staff at all levels

Main duties of the job

You will be a registered /Midwife with current NMC registration, experience of working as a Midwife in the NHS and interest in reproductive health and neonatal Unit care. You will have worked in either a Midwifery setting or Neonatal Unit/transitional care within the UK and familiar with current guidance and demonstrate a broad range of nursing and midwifery skills.

Please note-only those with NHS Midwifery experience will be shortlisted and will be invited for interview if they meet the remainder of the essential criteria.

You will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and effectively manage your own time to fulfil these key responsibilities whilst also linking in with other team members to enable support for each other. 

The post will be based across both Burnley General Teaching and Royal Blackburn Hospitals as the team supports activity across both sites. However, there may be occasions where travel to other ELHT sites is necessary as per service need therefore flexibility is an essential attribute.

Most of the research activity is undertaken Monday to Friday within normal hours- however, times may also vary and early starts (7.30am onwards) and late finishes (after 5pm) may be required. There is also a possibility that you may support some studies where night/weekend working is needed, although this is not common at present.
