Staff Nurse Chemotherapy

NHS AfC: Band 5

Job overview

Full time 37.5 hours per week. Fixed Term or Secondment for 8 months.

An opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join our team for 8 months to cover maternity leave.

The Churchill unit is a friendly unit which provides oncology outpatient clinics and delivery of outpatient chemotherapy.  In addition, the department undertakes CVAD care, blood transfusions and  other supportive activities.

The Trust appreciates and values the contribution international nurses bring to the NHS. We also understand the support overseas nurses need to gain full registration once in the UK (via OSCE) and therefore we only recruit internationally to fill nursing vacancies when we can ensure support is in place. At this present time we aren’t in a position to offer that support and therefore will not accept applications from overseas nurses who only have Part 1 NMC registration. If that position changes in future we will clearly advertise our opportunities for international nurses to join our nurse team here in Bolton. Thank you for your understanding.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the chemotherapy team in the Churchill Unit, undertaking phlebotomy, cannulation and administering intravenous and sub cutaneous chemotherapy.  The post holder will support the oncology clinics and assist the visiting Consultant Oncologists which may be without direct supervision.

Working for our organisation

We are looking for a highly motivated nurse, with relevant experience and training in the delivery of Chemotherapy treatments for Cancer, although we will consider training  the right candidate for this role.

The successful candidate will be a proven team player as the post holder will work alongside other clinical colleagues in Oncology.

You should have excellent communication, and interpersonal skills along with good IT skills. Effective time management and a flexible approach to working will also be a requirement.

The Trust has a dedicated international recruitment programme in place. We regularly advertise our opportunities for international recruits to join our team here in Bolton and these adverts are clearly marked as being suitable for international applicants.

Should international applicants apply for general vacancies, you will be asked, and expected, to attend any interview and assessment for the role you have applied for in person. Due to the nature of this role, we do not offer remote interviews. The Trust will not reimburse any travelling expenses in this relation.
