Job overview

In line with recent UK Government updates, please be aware that from 9 April 2025, the minimum salary threshold for Skilled Worker visas, including the Health and Care Visa route, has increased to £25,000 per year.

Wesham Rehabilitation centre is advertising an exciting post within Mental Health Rehabilitation clinical pathways, with this will be a great opportunity for individuals to work as part of this team and initiative.

Wesham rehabilitation centre provides a model of rehabilitation care for 24 males which focuses on empowering the service user to gain or recover their confidence and skills that promote independence, autonomy and encourage hope for the future, whilst in recovery of a mental health illness. Encouraging the skills necessary to transition back into a community setting. 

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) the post holder will work as an integrated member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working within a rotational shift system to support patients according to their care needs, some of whom may present with complex and challenging mental health needs. The post holder will be required to use their initiative when working on the wards to implement person centred plans of care and are expected to report any clinical progress or change to the Nurse in Charge. The post holder will carry out assigned tasks involving direct/indirect service user care and support service users under the supervision of a RN.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Can demonstrate the skills and knowledge gained through work (paid/unpaid) in a care setting and an interest in completing NVQ Level III or Higher in Health and Social Care OR Currently hold a NVQ Level III or Higher in Health and Social Care or QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the issues surrounding mental illness and person centred recovery.2
  • Understands their duties and responsibilities under the Data Protection Act with regard to patient confidentiality.
  • Can demonstrate competent IT skills.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with service users with mental health problems – for example working in a caring environment such as a nursing home, care home, hospital ward, home carer.
  • Up to date or working knowledge of de-escalation techniques.
