We are looking to recruit a band 5 staff nurse to cover maternity leave. 

We are looking for motivated and caring Staff nurse to join a dedicated Paediatric Team in our Paediatric Outpatient department. You will be required to work over our other sites in the Wigan borough therefore a car user/driver is essential to this post. 

We are looking for enthusiasm, drive, and passion where the delivery of outstanding levels of care can be nurtured.

You will have excellent communication skills and the flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of Children and their Families whilst maintaining a safe environment. 

You will be motivated and committed to delivering high quality care to patients in a busy and fast paced area.

You will work as part of a team to provide high quality, safe and child centred care.

The successful candidate will be efficient, reliable, and able to work using their own initiative whilst being part of a team. You will be dedicated to assisting in the delivery and the development of an excellent service.

We are looking to recruit to a 20 hour post, with a working pattern across 5 days (internal rotation).

NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as It has been established to cover maternity leave and will end in 12 months or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

You will be responsible for providing a range of personal care for patients and a range of clinical duties. 

Band 5 staff nurses work independently performing a number of clinical duties/tasks following training and meeting competency within role as per policy and procedure. You will be responsible for providing a range of personal care for patents and a range of clinical duties under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional.

The successful candidate will be required to work over 6 sites within the Wigan and Leigh area.

Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will demonstrate responsibility for:
• Identifying what is required of self and others in delivering individualised family centred care in partnership with the child & family
• Developing competencies in self which safeguard practice and effectiveness in role. Ensuring compliance with NMC Code of Conduct.
• Participation in the effective use of allocated resources/funding.
• Demonstrating awareness of and participation in development to meet demands and adapt to the changing needs of the service.
• Empowering self and colleagues to creatively meet professional and organisational objectives.
• Promoting safe systems, which assure all aspects of risk reduction, complaint with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the agenda for Clinical Governance.
• Deputise for the ward/departmental manager.
• Actively participate as bleep holder for Child Health as delegated by Matron or her deputy
Patient/Service User Related Tasks/Duties
The post holder will participate in, and influence, care delivery by:
• Acting as a catalyst in questioning expert professional knowledge within the team influencing application of theory in practice.
• Identifying, maintaining and improving the quality of care through evidence based practice.
Responsibility for Information Resources
The post holder will demonstrate effective communication by:
• Using the spoken and written word to influence outcomes.
• Assisting in the establishment of communications systems with all the stakeholders to promote understanding and goodwill.
• Maintaining consistency within standards of care for both elective and emergency care.
• Maintaining compliance with the data protection act 1988 and information governance ensuring confidentiality is adhered too.
• Maintaining accurate and timely records.
