Clinical Skills Supervisor

Based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary within the elective surgical teams.

University Hospitals of Leicester is excited to offer a vacancy for a band 6 Clinical Skills Supervisor (CSS) within the peri-operative theatre at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Candidates will be proficient theatre practitioners; and must be a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or a Registered Nurse (RN) in possession of a mentorship qualification. The ability to work both autonomously and within a team whilst achieving specific targets is essential. A strong surgical scrub background is vital.

As a clinical skills supervisor, you will have a pivotal role in implementing, supporting and monitoring clinical education, by assessing competence and ensuring progression, teaching and training in the clinical setting. Primarily you will work in partnership with a base site alongside the Matron, Team Leaders and the Theatre Teams.

You will work with the education team and CSS’s across all sites in the development of newly qualified theatre practitioners and Theatre Support Assistants. You will attend relevant meetings with the education teams to update yours skills and knowledge.

Ideally the post is full time over 4 days as approximately 50% of your hours will be worked as a rostered shift; however part-time hours will be considered. You should have at least 3 years post registration experience with evidence of formal or informal teaching and education and/or practice development initiatives.
