Genetic Counsellor

Band 7

The Leicestershire Clinical Genetics Department has a unique and exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated Genetic Counsellor (GC) with experience to join our small supportive team.  This is a permanent position and we will consider trainee GC's, at band 6 level, having already completed their Master's programme in Genetic counseling with proof of passing core modules of the course including the genetic counselling module.

 We provide genetic counseling to the local diverse population covering general, cancer and pre-natal genetics. In addition we undertake various multidisciplinary clinics and taken part in the 100K Genome Project. The role entails working closely with the Genetics team to ensure the smooth running of the genetics clinics and efficient management of the GC caseload. The post is attractive to potential candidates who wish to benefit from an all-round experience of genetics and gain support in their development. Participation in research, audit teaching and service development will be an important aspect of the role.

The Successful candidate will undertake range of Genetic Counsellor duties.  We would consider newly qualified GC with appropriate skills and experience with the intention to Register within 2 years of practice with the GCRB or HCPC as Genomic Counsellor.
