The surgical admissions lounge provides care for  both elective surgery patients from  admission to subsequent  transfer to an inpatient ward, and for   elective surgical day cases from admission through to same day discharge.

The ward is open from  0700-2000 and caters for a number of different surgical specialities, these being, general surgery, ENT, urology, breast, gynaecology, some vascular and orthopaedics.

In addition the ward provides care for interventional radiology patients. 

At times of high demand the ward is used as an escalation area and as such provides care for inpatient surgical patients who have a predicted discharge  for the next day.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
