Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced band 5 nurse to join our dedicated Chemotherapy Day Unit team (based at Scunthorpe General Hospital ). We are a small but busy unit with excellent patient feedback, providing specialist care to Oncology and Haematology patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT). We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate nurse to complement our team to help drive forward our services. The role of a SACT nurse is to provide holistic care for patients receiving SACT and is a challenging and rewarding field of nursing.
We operate Monday to Friday and offer clinical supervision and professional development. If you have the skills and experience we are looking for come and be part of our committed team delivering exceptional patient care.
Informal visits are encouraged.
Main duties of the job
The nurse will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
Trained in the administration of systemic anti-cancer treatments including chemotherapy.
Responsible for allocating and checking work of junior staff and healthcare support workers.
Support the unit manager by undertaking basic audits as and when required.

Education/qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Level 6 Chemotherapy qualification or equivalent
- Competent in cannulation and venepuncture
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post registration development
- Completion of or willing to undertake the UKONS SACT passport
Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 12 months nursing experience
- Previous chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration experience
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of IT systems
- Experience of accessing CVADs
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
