We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Children's Learning Disability Nurse Band 7 to work across the CDC nursing and Specialist School Nursing Teams in Barking & Dagenham. The teams promote positive and effective health outcomes for children and young people with learning disbilities and complex health needs. It is an integrated multi-disciplinary team and a commitment and experience of working in that context would be advantageous. The applicant should be a 1st level Registered Learning Disability Nurse, ideally with experience of working with children and young people in the community. The ability to evidence knowledge, and experience of providing evidence based interventions and safe care are essential. Applicants should have good knowledge and understanding of legislation relevant to this client group with an ability to evidence advanced communication skills. Advocating for the children and young people across the age ranges and supporting them and their families in being prepared for adulthood.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
The successful candidate will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team working to meet the needs of children with learning disabilities in Barking & Dagenham. Being an effective team member, whilst also working on their own initiative. Having a commitment to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health, social care and education professionals and agencies.
Providing clinical expertise to the wider team and supporting paediatricians, nursing and allied professionals to meet the varied and complex needs of children and young people.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).
