Job overview

 The Endoscopy unit at St Heliers has 4 scope rooms, a manometry room and use of a further room in X-ray. We have a continually expanding service with a very dedicated, well supported and dynamic team. We have  an exciting opportunity for a  an experienced endoscopy nurse to use not only their clinical skills  but also their management skills to take charge of our busy ERCP lists.  They will also  be expected to take charge of the daily running of one of our recovery areas. In addition they will also be expected to be part of our POA(pre -op assessments) team  and our TAC( Telephone assessment ) team. 

Main duties of the job

Be in charge of ERCP Lists

Be in charge of a recovery area

be part of the POA and TAC teams

Admit, nurse and discharge all  types of endoscopy patients

Run GI or respiratory scope rooms 

Mentor new members of staff and students

Be part of the senior  Endoscopy nursing team

Essential criteria
  • Must be registered nurse
  • Mentorship ot teaching or assessing qualification
  • Endo 1 and 2
  • ERCP courses
Desirable criteria
  • BSC in relevant subject
  • Peg insertion course
  • Qualification in pre op assessment
  • Management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive endoscopy experience
  • Good general nursing background in surgery, theatres or medicine
  • extensive ERCP experience
Desirable criteria
  • able to perform manometry and capsule endoscopy
  • managerial experience in appraisal or performance management

additional qualities/skills

  • Good understanding of clinical governance
