This is an exciting opportunity to join the in-house occupational health team at The Royal Marsden Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a nurse-led Occupational Health service with a sessional OH Physician.    
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Occupational Health screening nurse who will lead in delivering the immunisation assessment and clearance for our external contract, based at the University of Greenwich’s Southwood (Avery Hill) campus.  This is a part time permanent role working three days per week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The successful candidate will work alone on site at the University of Greenwich’s Southwood (Avery Hill) campus, with support from the OH team in our Chelsea and Sutton locations.  Therefore, experience of delivering NHS immunisations and vaccinations is essential for this role.

You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills and evidence-based decision making.  Initial training and induction for this role will be provided at our Sutton location (SM2 5PT).

Main duties of the job

1.1.    To support the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Manager in the provision of an Occupational Health and Wellbeing service to our external client, the University of Greenwich for to provide Students on Health Care courses with appropriate immunisation screens, vaccinations and blood tests.

1.2.    To promote a high standard of Occupational Health and Safety amongst students in line with current legislation.

You will be a member of at he Occupational Health team but based solely on the Avery Hill site delivering the Occupational Health immunisation services, including:

•    Undertaking immunisation and phlebotomy for NHS immunisation requirements 
•    Providing specialist advice relating to blood borne viruses and management of inoculation incidents.
•    Providing advice and support contact tracing for specific illnesses and infections

Essential criteria

•    Current registration with NMC part one NMC register
•    Competent in assessing healthcare workers in line with NHS requirements
•    Undertaking phlebotomy and NHS vaccinations
•    Evidence of ongoing professional development
•    Competent IT skills 
•    Confident and competent to work with minimal supervision, working alone in clinic with no onsite admin support.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration with NMC Part 1
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Evidence of up-to-date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues
  • Sound educational background including a good standard of numeracy and written English
  • Use of OH clinical records software
Desirable criteria
  • Recent immunisation update (1 day face to face, within the past 12 months)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as an Immunisation Screening Nurse in an NHS Occupational Health Service
  • Competent in venepuncture and all NHS immunisations
  • Ability to work independently and alone on site
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications including excel, word and outlook
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of assessment of student healthcare workers immunisation status in line with national guidelines
  • Competent in undertaking body fluid exposure assessment and follow up
