Job overview

At Croydon University Hospital we are recruiting for  an experienced, expert neonatal  nurse to join our friendly and supportive senior team.  
 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven leadership qualities, showcase clinical excellence and promote innovative practice while working closely with the multidisciplinary team.

 You'll manage day-to-day activities across ITU, HDU and  Special Care, ensuring effective and safe decision-making. In your role, you will actively participate in staff management and leadership, leveraging your  communication skills to foster a collaborative work environment. Familiarity with risk, governance, and safeguarding processes is essential to excel in this role.

Main duties of the job

To be a clinical expert to provide safe and effective care, leading and managing care provision for an LNU with a total of 22 cots; 4 ITU, 5 HDU, 13 SC.
 

Be an experienced and knowledgeable resource for the multi -disciplinary team, to provide high quality, evidence based care and work collaboratively with families and service users to enhance service provision.

To be compassionate leader, and support the team to be the best they can be, supporting their health and well-being, and actively encouraging their professional development.

Actively promote and deliver Family Integrated Care (FIC) by fostering a collaborative environment where parents are empowered as equal partners in their baby’s care.

The post‑holder will lead on promoting a robust safeguarding culture within the neonatal service, ensuring the protection and welfare of all babies and their families

The post holder will play a key role in promoting and upholding equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that the care provided is culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of Croydon’s richly diverse population. They will champion equitable access to high‑quality neonatal care, challenge discriminatory practice, and foster an environment where families from all backgrounds feel respected, supported, and empowered.

Essential criteria
  • Substantial B6 clinical experience working with the multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of leading and managing a neonatal team
Desirable criteria
  • Level 3 clinical experience
  • Clinical experience on a surgical Neonatal Unit

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Active registration with NMC as a Registered Nurse
  • Recognised post graduate qualification in Neonatal Nursing (405 / QIS)
  • NLS Qualification  - in date
  • Recognised Mentoring and Assessing in Clinical Practice course
Desirable criteria
  • MSc or MA - completion of Modules at L7
  • Enhanced nursing course/qualification
