Job overview

The post holder will be working as part of the wider safeguarding team within the Royal Free London Trust. They will be responsible for the safeguarding children function across Enfield community services which is part of RFL.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with significant safeguarding children experience at band 7 to step up to the next level.

The post holder managers the safeguarding specialist nurses within Enfield MASH and will be integral to the development of the newly created Health lead within Enfield Multi-agency Child Protection Team (MACPT)

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide expert advice, supervision and support on safeguarding children matters, working together with key professionals and partner agencies.

The post holder will actively contribute towards the quality and assurance agenda including training, audit, collection and analysis of relevant data.

The post holder will contribute to Safeguarding children practice reviews, Domestic homicide reviews, Safeguarding adult reviews, Learning reviews and Serious incident investigations.

The post holder will attend the Child Death reviews for children in Enfield.

The post holder will work in close partnership with external stakeholders to ensuring effective safeguarding arrangements.

The post holder will lead and have line management responsibility for Specialist safeguarding children’ nurses/ practitioners within Enfield Community Services.

To work collaboratively with other safeguarding professionals across the Trust including cross site cover if required.

Education & professional qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (NMC Part 1 or Part 3 SCPHN) with a child/family focus.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
  • Evidence of continuing personal development
  • Specialist post-registration safeguarding training (Level 4/PGDip).
  • Safeguarding supervision training
  • MSc or working towards
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching and assessing certificate/ teaching qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • An expert either through formal qualifications (Masters) and/or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area of Safeguarding
  • Ability to present complex health information to health non-health colleagues in a way that supports evidence-based risk assessment.
  • Experience in managing complex safeguarding cases and multi-agency working
  • Experience of working across whole health communities
  • Experience of managing a clinical team including human resources management
  • Experience of using audit to help shape service design or change
  • Experience of contributing to case review and implementing associated actions
  • Experience of providing reports and data for governance and assurance purposes both internally and for externally
  • Experience of attendance and contribution at multi-agency forums
  • Experience of working as a mentor/facilitator
  • Experience of managing allegations of abuse against staff
