Job overview

The Royal Free London Viral Hepatitis Service provides care to one of the largest cohorts of viral hepatitis patients in the country. With the recent introduction of Emergency Department opt-out testing, the hepatitis B service is growing at a rate of 400 new patients per annum. 
The Royal Free Hospital is also hub of the North Central London Operational delivery network for the elimination of hepatitis C which now delivers programs for the earlier diagnosis of cirrhosis and liver cancer surveillance in hard-to-reach populations of all liver disease aetiologies across the region.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be required to: 
Work as a viral hepatitis nurse practitioner and effectively deliver an evidence based expert nursing service within an integrated specialist team and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries. 

Co-ordinate the seamless referral and care of clients suitable for antiviral therapy in both community and outpatient settings. 

Work in partnership with the North Central London viral hepatitis Operational Delivery Network (ODN), health inclusion and blood borne virus teams across the sector to impart health promotional advice within the hepatology department, both in hospital and community settings.
Lead and manage a team of B4 Clinician Assistants and support them within ODN. This includes supporting a Community Liver Health Check pilot to identify and refer people at high risk of liver cancer into liver surveillance pathways. 

The North Central Liver Network is developing. The post holder will be responsible to work 
towards its implementation and will be supported to lead on work for future expansion, while acting as a visible viral hepatology role model and expert practitioner.
