Clinical Practitioner - Psych Liaison and Crisis Assessment Team

The post is to cover a 12 months maternity absence. There will likely be opportunities to apply for permanent roles as they become available during this time.

New opportunity for a highly skilled, resilient and resourceful individual contribute to the transition and development of the reformed Mental Health Crisis pathways. 

You will gain substantial experience in the variety of crisis response services working together to provide quick and highly skilled interventions to individuals experiencing and presenting with a variety of Serious Mental Illness in mental health crisis. 

You will gain the experience of working with individuals presenting through different stages of crisis presentations; in the emergency department as part of the Psychiatry liaison service and as part of our Crisis Assessment Team and in our crisis assessment hub. You will have the ability to identify those who need an urgent assessment and have the opportunity, to offer these individuals an assessment promptly. 

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to work as part of the rotation between Homerton Psychiatic Liaison and our Urgent assessment team, and work towards developing a cohesive crisis service pathway and supporting staffs professional development, experience, skills and knowledge. You will also be supported to develop skills through training provided by the trust to build assessment and formulation skills, risk management of psychotic, depressive, self-harm and suicidal presentation, and various other areas via our in-house training programme.

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential criteria
  • Strong academic background and/or Masters Mental Health Qualification
  • Evidence of non-statutory continual professional development
  • Evidence of professional development specifically relevant to crisis assessment and liaison

Experience

Essential criteria
  • o Substantial post qualification experience, preferably in the field of mental health crisis
  • o Previous experience at working autonomously
  • o Experience of contributing to the development of new services

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • o Demonstrate well developed and confident clinical skills
  • o Demonstrate skills in providing effective nursing leadership
  • o Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • o Demonstrate excellent problem solving skills
