Ward Manager

NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

We have an  exciting  opportunity for a highly  professional, motivated and enthusiastic candidate to manage  Caspian Ward,  based at Park Royal Centre for Mental Health.   The Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit primarily provides intensive care facilities for people compulsorily detained, who are in an acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder such that their safe, therapeutic management and treatment in a general open acute ward is jeopardised.

We are looking for a compassionate and highly motivated Ward Manager to lead our  dedicated clinical team.

You will be able to demonstrate progressive skills in leadership, advanced clinical practice, and service development.   We are seeking  a nurse who is  looking to further their career.  You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that is committed to the provision of high quality and patient-centred care,  continuous service and staff development,  and strong collaborative working with other agencies.

The successful applicant will work with the Matron to promote a culture that fosters staff involvement and a progressive attitude to service improvement, along with taking operational and clinical day to day management responsibility at team level using performance management systems.   You will also work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

The ward offers  care and treatment to  patients who are acutely unwell,  together with care  planning,  discharge planning, clinical risk assessments and providing a  safe and therapeutic environment for all.

  • Management of Financial and Material Resources

Working for our organisation

Values

Central and North West London NHS Trust expects all Band 7 ward managers to act in a way which shows you understand our core values and are willing to put them into practice with service users, their friends family and carers and also other staff members.

As a Band 7 Ward Manager we expect you to show COMPASSION, contribute to a caring and kind environment and recognise that what you do and say helps can make the lives of others better

We expect you to RESPECT everyone and acknowledge and welcome people’s differences rather than ignore them or see them as problematic.

We expect you to EMPOWER others and continually try to provide information, resources and support to help others make their own decisions and meet their own needs.

We expect you to work in PARTNERSHIP and behave in a way that shows that you recognise that commissioners and users of our services are the people who generate and pay for our work.
