Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, forward-thinking Rehabilitation Coordinator to work at the Homerton Transitional Neurological Rehab Unit (HTNRU). HTNRU is a 7 bedded neurological rehab unit which supports people with neurological conditions to return to the community.  The post holder will carry out therapy sessions under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Speech and Language Therapist, and Psychologist. These sessions can take place on the unit, in the community, and in their own homes.  The rehabilitation coordinator will lead individual and group activities.

The postholder is expected to show leadership skills and support the other rehabilitation support worker roles on the unit. The role includes managing the therapy equipment on the unit including cleaning schedules and reporting issues. There is an administration component to the job, supporting the therapists and nurses to complete paperwork and referrals. It is an exciting and challenging role as it requires taking initiative while also working closely with the team.

Previous experience of working with clients in a rehabilitation setting or in the community is essential. This is a fantastic role for someone who is interested in or would like to further their skills in working with people with neurological problems.  The clients may present with physical, cognitive, and/or behavioural impairments.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a member of the specialist interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team and contribute to the provision of interdisciplinary rehabilitation for HTNRU clients
  • Play a key role in the co-ordination of day to day delivery of a comprehensive rehabilitation programme
  • Provide support and direction to other staff to ensure the appropriate delivery of rehabilitation tasks to patients
  • Participate in all aspects of rehabilitation treatment both on the unit and in the community for clients with physical and neurological disabilities under the supervision of the therapists involved.
  • Carry out a range of other duties including administration, maintenance of wheelchairs and equipment and general tasks
