Job overview

This exciting Band 6 opportunity will develop your leadership and management skills within our proactive multi-disciplinary team. We will offer you the following routes to develop within our teams. In house shift leader development programme depending on unit specialty, education relevant to the specialty with university accreditation.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients that is compassionate and caring, to assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate them without supervision, to assist in leading and monitoring the performance of the nursing team and to deputise for the Senior Nurse when required.

Education

Essential criteria
  • NMC registered Nurse
  • Teaching Qualification such as SSSA or Mentorship in Practice, or Equivalent experience
  • 60 Credit Critical Care Course
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership Qualification

Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of speciality and ability to organize ward activities and to use initiative
  • Ability to solve problems and contribute new ideas
  • Knowledge of quality, standard setting and audit
  • Basic IT skills
  • Competency in medication - administration including IV medications
  • Skills required to undertake clinical activity related to specialty including completion of CC3N Step 1 – 3 competencies
